Classic White Birch Dresser
I made this dresser for some dear friends right before the arrival of their first child. They had asked for a simple design with light-toned wood, something functional and beautiful for their newly built nursery.
I went with a flush drawer-front look with some handmade, custom handles. The different grain patterns and colors in this wood added depth to the look. It was equipped with 6 easy sliding, soft-close drawers and a perfect overall height to double as a changing table.
For the drawer construction, I elected to use dovetails due to the strength it provides and the extra flare of design. Deciding on what hardware people want to use can become a real pain in the side. Along the process, I asked the clients if they would be open to having the handle made instead of bought at a big-box store. They were excited about this.
Projects like this one reminds me of how grateful I am when a client gives the freedom to grow and think freely throughout the process from start to finish.
